The Greenfield-Central Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Connersville Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenfield-Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Last Saturday, the stars were shining brightly for Greenfield-Central in a 54-36 win over Delta. Given Greenfield-Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Delta is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Connersville beat South Dearborn 46-36 on Friday.
Connersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ahniyah Bennett led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Bennett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Sembach, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Greenfield-Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Connersville, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
Greenfield-Central didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Connersville when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 46-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenfield-Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
