Capital Valley recap Nov. 7, 2012
Del Campo extended the longest winning streak in Capital Valley this week by beating Rio Linda, 34-28. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Cougars.
Christian Brothers took down Bella Vista 40-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Caden Noon threw for 45 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 21 yards in the win.
Casa Roble's dynamic duo of Peyton Wilfley and Eric Morris proved tough for Oakmont to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilfley threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns and Morris had 139 yards receiving. Angel Tenorio helped Casa Roble's passing attack out by catching three balls for 60 yards.
Robert Walton was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 177 yards on 18 carries as the Vikings lost to the Vikings. Taylor Laird also contributed to the rushing game with 91 yards on the ground.
6-foot-3 quarterback Laird of Oakmont is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1859. He has also thrown 19 touchdowns. On the ground, the Knights' Marcel Brown has rushed for 1365 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jalen Walker. The Christian Brothers star has 59 catches for 947 yards.
Del Campo's Josh Blumgold needs only 78 yards against Whitney next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Blumgold has rushed for 922 yards on 116 carries so far this year.
The Falcons' Walker is only 53 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the Cosumnes Oaks.
Tim Moore's team led Capital Valley in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on Casa Roble. Laird threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
