The West Bend West Spartans will head out to take on the Hartford Orioles at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, West Bend West put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Homestead with a sharp 11-1 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted against the Highlanders since May 18, 2021.
Mason Micksch was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ryan Rose was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cullen Roell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Hartford, as they earned their first away win of the season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Nicolet a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. With that victory, the Orioles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Nicolet's batters probably weren't too happy with Jack Perkowski, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up three walks).
On the hitting side, Hartford let Kaiden Romens and Adian Kolb run wild. Romens scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Kolb scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Ethan Birkel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Hartford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nicolet only posted an OBP of .143.
The win made it two in a row for West Bend West and bumps their season record up to 3-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Hartford, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.
