Softball Recap: Leland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Leigh

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leland). They walked away with a 13-10 win over the Leigh Longhorns on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chargers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Ella Fergason was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Lily O'Hanneson was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Leland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Leland's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Leigh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-14-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Leland will challenge rival Willow Glen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for the Chargers: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while the Rams have snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. Meanwhile, Leigh is set to face off against their familiar foe Westmont at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
