Basketball Recap: Kylin Mcdonald's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Community Christian Academy over St. Teresa's Catholic

After flying high against Colquitt Christian Academy back in December of 2024, Community Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Community Christian Academy Eagles fell just short of the St. Teresa's Catholic Crusaders by a score of 59-56 on Tuesday. The Eagles were up 21-4 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Community Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylin McDonald, who posted 24 points. The contest was McDonald's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Preston Smith was another key player, putting up 17 points.

St. Teresa's Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dyland Rangel, who had 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rangel has scored at least a third of St. Teresa's Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Michael Richard, who put up 16 points.

With the loss, Community Christian Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2. As for St. Teresa's Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Christian Academy will face off against CHESS Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Teresa's Catholic, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Colquitt Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
