Marshall has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mountain View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will welcome the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Marshall's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over El Monte. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Ben Level looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trevor Lain, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Adan Castro was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Marshall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Monte only posted an OBP of .318.
Mountain View not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th. They blew past El Monte 8-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.
ALEX MORENO made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Mountain View is undefeated when MORENO posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, LUKE DAVILA was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of ADRAIN PERALTA, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3-1.
Everything went Marshall's way against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in March, as Marshall made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
