On Friday, The Valley View Blazers faced the Southside Southerners in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Valley View came out on top against Southside by a score of 31-21. The victory was familiar territory for Valley View who now have seven in a row.
Valley View was led to victory by Carson Turley and Tj Starks. Turley threw for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while Starks picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Savion Hall and Gabe Witt, Southside certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hall rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown, while Witt rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Valley View's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. As for Southside, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley View will challenge Nettleton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nettleton and Valley View are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Southside, they will head out on the road to face off against Batesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Batesville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Southside is ranked 23rd).
