Cowan is 8-2 against Blue River Valley since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Blackhawks will venture away from home to take on the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Cowan took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Seton Catholic with a sharp 19-1 victory. Considering the Blackhawks have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucas Terrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Terrell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cowan got a massive performance out of Chase Matson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Matson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Garrett, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Cowan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
While Blue River Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Tri 17-8 on Monday. That looming 17-8 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.
EVAN ZENTZ was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, KYLER KECK was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Blue River Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. GABE BILBY was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Cowan's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4. As for Blue River Valley, their record is now an identical 6-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cowan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Blue River Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Cowan's way against Blue River Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Cowan made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
