While Vista Grande didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 66-57 victory over the Nogales Apaches on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans who have now won three contests in a row.

Several Apaches players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tito Fierros, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. Gael Martinez was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points.

Vista Grande's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Nogales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Vista Grande will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. After both having extra time off, Nogales and Catalina Foothills will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Nogales is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
