After two games on the road, Burns is heading back home. They will take on the Thomas Jefferson Gryphons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Burns' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
Even though Highland Tech scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Burns still came out on top. Burns walked away with a 73-60 win over the Rams. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Burns did.
Burns' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kenyon Surratt, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Surratt scored 15 or more points. Jaxon Self was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bessemer City. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Thomas Jefferson still had to take the loss.
Burns is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Thomas Jefferson, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11.
Burns strolled past the Gryphons in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 72-57. Will Burns repeat their success, or do the Gryphons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
