The Osbourn Eagles will face off against the Mount Vernon Majors at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Osbourn has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the  game with four straight  losses, while Mount Vernon will come in with three straight  victories.
Osbourn fell victim to Osbourn Park and their airtight pitching crew  on Friday. They came up short against  the Yellowjackets, falling  20-0. The  matchup marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.
 Osbourn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Maya Mira, who  went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  stolen base and one  double.
Meanwhile, Mount Vernon hadn't done well against Falls Church recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. The Majors were the clear victors by  a  22-11 margin over the Jaguars. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Majors this season.
 Lily Grimsley was a standout: she fired off two  home runs, five  RBI,  and three  runs while going 3-for-4. Those  home runs were  her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Ella Lytkowski, who  went 2-for-4 with four  stolen bases, four  runs,  and four  RBI.
 Mount Vernon was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .360 or higher in three consecutive  contests.
 Osbourn's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mount Vernon, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Wednesday's   game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Osbourn has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .562. However, it's not like Mount Vernon struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Osbourn took their  victory against Mount Vernon  in their previous matchup  back in March of 2024 by a conclusive  12-2 score. Do  the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Majors turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
