Alton entered their tilt with Van Buren on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Alton's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Van Buren, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

Coming up, Alton will welcome Scott City at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Van Buren, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Portageville at 4:30 p.m.
