Baseball Recap: Miami Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Miami had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Plantation Colonels as they made off with a 9-1 win. Considering the Stingarees have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Wryan Jenkins made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other pitching news, Miami got a great performance from Santiago Espana-Reconco as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Espana-Reconco has posted since back in February of 2025.

Back at the plate, Randy Mercedes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Kevin Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Miami was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Miami's record is now 8-3. As for Plantation, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miami will face off against Gulliver Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Plantation and Hollywood Hills, As for Plantation, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th.
