Liberty has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Blacksburg Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
Liberty struggled with assists on Friday (the Eagles had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Liberty was dealt a 80-51 loss at the hands of the Eagles. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kendall Jackson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Owen, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Blacksburg came up short against the Blazers on Friday and fell 53-44. While losing is never fun, Blacksburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Blazers are ranked 57th).
Liberty has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Blacksburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.
Liberty might still be hurting after the 70-49 loss they got from the Wildcats when the teams last played back in January. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
