After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shelby, The East Gaston Warriors were happy to have found some success on Friday. They blew past Highland Tech 72-0 on the road. Given East Gaston's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Highland Tech is ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Gaston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trenton Sherrill, who threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. Isaac Brown was another key contributor, rushing for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
East Gaston's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Highland Tech, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
East Gaston will head out on the road to face off against Maiden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Maiden is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Highland Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
