The River Valley Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 38-5 loss at the hands of Odyssey Institute. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points River Valley has scored all season.
Cherity Gonzalez was River Valley's leading scorer, having posted five points. Gonzalez also led the team in rebounds with five.
Shelby Hunt was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Danica Slack, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
River Valley's loss was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-14. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Odyssey Institute, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley will play host again and welcome Madison Highland Prep, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Madison Highland Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Odyssey Institute, they will be playing at home against Parker at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Parker has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 258 points over their last four matchups.
