South Laurel hasn't had much luck against Rockcastle County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. South Laurel will challenge Rockcastle County at 6:00 p.m. South Laurel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, South Laurel beat Hazard 9-4.

Kenzie Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Williams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmie Rice, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was R Bretz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Rockcastle County was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They fell just short of Corbin by a score of 3-2. The Rockets haven't had much luck with the Redhounds recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Macy Spivey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Addi Lovell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
South Laurel's record now sits at 4-1. As for Rockcastle County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Rockcastle County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Laurel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. It's a different story for Rockcastle County, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain South Laurel's hitters?
South Laurel came out on top in a nail-biter against Rockcastle County when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Does South Laurel have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rockcastle County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
