MANTECA, Calif. -
Sierra (Manteca, Calif.) extended its winning streak to seven games with a 28-8 victory over
Rosemont (Sacramento, Calif.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Anthony Cota in the second quarter, the Timberwolves led 14-8 at the half.
Sierra expanded its lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a passing touchdown.
The Wolverine's
Marcel McCain played well. The senior running back ran for one touchdown.
The Manteca school's standout player in the win was Cota. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 39 touchdowns on the season.
Rosemont's lone touchdown came on an 8-yard run by McCain in the first quarter.
The Timberwolves came in allowing an average of 20.7 points per game this season. Sierra held firm on the defensive front, and kept RHS well below the 30.5 points it had been averaging per game.
The loss comes after Rosemont defeated Johnson 51-20 last week. The loss snapped the Sacramento school's 2-game winning streak.
