The Socorro Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 16th straight loss. They took a 40-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Dorado. If Socorro was looking for revenge after losing 44-25 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Socorro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Giselle Medrano, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nataly Dominguez, who scored six points along with six assists and five steals.
El Dorado found their leader in underclassman Hannah Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aralyn Nahle, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Socorro's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-23. As for El Dorado, their win bumped their record up to 13-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Socorro will face off against the Trail Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Americas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Texas (the Trail Blazers are ranked 70th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 957th). As for El Dorado, they will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
