The Lake Worth Trojans lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 58-22 loss at the hands of Wellington. Lake Worth has struggled against the Wolverines recently, as their match on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Lake Worth saw an underclassman step up: Jocilynne Sweeney scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Alexandra Reiman, who scored six points.
Wellington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dayna Clarke out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clarke has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Russotti, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Lake Worth's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Wellington, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Worth won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Park Vista presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Trojans in Florida (the Cobras are ranked 257th, while the Trojans are ranked 576th). As for Wellington, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m.
