Meanwhile, Socorro entered their tilt with Pebble Hills on Saturday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Spartans. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.
Haley Rodriguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Leilene Cardoza was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Mia Dominguez was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
Socorro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Socorro pushed their record up to 27-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 9-23.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coronado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384. However, it's not like Socorro struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
