Briggsdale is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Kiowa is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Both teams will face off at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
After soaring to a 39-point victory in their last game, Briggsdale came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of Flatirons Academy by a score of 41-38.
Briggsdale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenna Krise, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Claire Brown who scored 11 points along with three steals. Krise is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Kiowa, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-33 loss to Dayspring Christian Academy on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kiowa has scored all season.
Briggsdale's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Kiowa, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.
Briggsdale took their victory against Kiowa in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 86-66. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Kiowa's Kendra Byrd, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 0 assists. Now that she won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Briggsdale to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
