On Saturday, the Hamilton Southeastern Royals faced the Center Grove Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Hamilton Southeastern falling 74-58. It was the first time this season that they let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Hamilton Southeastern still got an impressive performance from Maya Makalusky, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 0 assists. That was a full 55.2% of Hamilton Southeastern's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kennedy Holman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten assists.
Center Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lilly Bischoff, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrie Booker, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six steals.
Hamilton Southeastern's loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-3. As for Center Grove, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton Southeastern will take on Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Hamilton Southeastern is ranked third). As for Center Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. Greenwood is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
