Saxony Lutheran and Dexter are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Dexter Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Saxony Lutheran has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Saxony Lutheran gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They breezed by Fredericktown on the road to the tune of 74-37. Given Saxony Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Fredericktown is ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saxony Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rebecca Johnson, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 3 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Caruso, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Dexter posted their biggest victory since December 16, 2023 last Thursday. They blew past Woodland, posting a 66-34 victory on the road.
Saxony Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Dexter, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Saxony Lutheran and Dexter were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but Saxony Lutheran came up empty-handed after a 47-46 loss. Can Saxony Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
