The Southern Wayne Saints pushed their score all the way to 67 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The contest between Southern Wayne and C.B. Aycock wasn't particularly close, with Southern Wayne falling 84-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (66), Southern Wayne still had to take the loss.
Southern Wayne lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jayden Hardy, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Carmon, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Jarvis Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points for C.B. Aycock. Williams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Janeson Steele was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Southern Wayne's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10. As for C.B. Aycock, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Wayne won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against South Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for C.B. Aycock, they will head out on the road to challenge Hunt at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hunt comes in on five and C.B. Aycock on three.
