After three games on the road, North Broward Prep is heading back home. They will take on the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but North Broward Prep had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bears a 5-0 shutout. North Broward Prep's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five contests.
They hit Mater Lakes Academy with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Sumayah Brown (2),
Jayda Palumbo,
Isabella Cancelier, and
Ella Munoz.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 goals), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They put the hurt on MAST Academy with a sharp 4-0 victory. Four seems to be a good number for Cardinal Gibbons as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.
North Broward Prep is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-1-2 record this season. As for Cardinal Gibbons, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6-3.
North Broward Prep beat Cardinal Gibbons by a goal when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 1-0. Will North Broward Prep repeat their success, or does Cardinal Gibbons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
