Basketball Game Preview: West Trojans vs. Whitney Wildcats

The West Trojans will take on the Whitney Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Whitney likes a good challenge.

West is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Harmony School of Innovation: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that West blew Harmony School of Innovation out of the water with a 76-14 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-7.

West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ayden Poteet led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Poteet is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Rinewalt, who posted ten points along with five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Whitney suffered their closest loss since December 27, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Troy by a score of 51-49.

Whitney has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for West, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
