The Satellite Scorpions will head out to challenge the Space Coast Vipers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Satellite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Satellite took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Titusville 15-0. The Scorpions haven't had any issues with the Terriers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Mallory Hines looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Michaella Gaskins was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Grey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Satellite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Space Coast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Astronaut.
Kylie Ulmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Abby Minear was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Satellite pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Space Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Both Satellite and Space Coast just can't seem to miss. The Scorpions have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Space Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Satellite skirted past Space Coast 4-2 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scorpions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
