The Basis Yeti's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 41-28 to Ash Fork. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Basis in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Basis saw an underclassman step up: Sammy Mullaney scored nine points along with seven steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Mullaney posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Mullaney, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Basis struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ash Fork pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
Leading Ash Fork to victory were Violeta Trujillo and Eva Flores. Trujillo scored eight points, while Flores scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Flores is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Basis has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Ash Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 9-19.
Basis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ash Fork will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Williams will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
