It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the McIntosh Demons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. It was close, but they capped 2023 with a 72-69 win over Chickasaw. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Chickasaw lost, one person who can't be blamed is JaMarion Osborne. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydrus Gilmore, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
McIntosh's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Chickasaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McIntosh will take on Satsuma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Satsuma is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Chickasaw, they will be playing at home against Robertsdale at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Robertsdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
