It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Park Hill South Panthers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Mesquite with a 47-43 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given Park Hill South's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 101st in Missouri, while Mesquite is ranked second in Arizona).
Mesquite's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vanessa Sepulveda, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Sepulveda's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Navae Guidry, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The win (which was Park Hill South's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. As for Mesquite, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
