3A District 2 recap November 19, 2013
Trinity Catholic added to the longest winning streak in 3A District 2 this week by beating Providence, 30-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Celtics.
Father Lopez lost to Trinity Christian 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brant Williams was a bright spot for the Green Wave, as he caught 5 passes for 55 yards in the loss.
Trinity Catholic's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Reid Carlton threw for 132 and 1 touchdown and Rudi Outar had 60 yards receiving. On the ground Johnnie Taylor chipped in 180 yards. London Gaskin helped Trinity Catholic's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 21 yards.
C.J. Williams was a key player and the best on defense this week as Father Lopez fell to the Conquerors. He grabbed 1 sack.
Taylor provided a threat through the air and on the ground as John Brantley's team bested the Stallions. Taylor's key target this week was Outar, who caught 3 passes for 60 yards.
Carlton put up the best numbers in passing as the Celtics defeated Providence.
Thanks to the talents of Carlton and Taylor, Trinity Catholic has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Carlton is tops in the league in passing with 1,782 yards, while Taylor has rushed for 1,156 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Jason Dunlap's team's Williams, with 493 yards on 28 catches.
The Green Wave made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,738 from 7,958. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 49-7 victory over Father Lopez last week.
