Wayne has gone 9-1 against Thurston-Cuming County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Blue Devils will square off against Thurston-Cuming County at 4:30 p.m. Thurston-Cuming County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Wayne, who comes in off a win.
Wayne not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2025 (when they won 12-1). Everything went their way against Fort Calhoun as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Adrian Contreras was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Contreras was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Wayne let Gavin Anderson and Drew Reinhardt run wild. Anderson went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Reinhardt got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Reinhardt has posted since back in April of 2025. Easton Endicott also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Wayne hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Thurston-Cuming County couldn't beat Twin River on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. Thurston-Cuming County lost 15-5 to Twin River. Thurston-Cuming County has struggled against Twin River recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Braylen Wegner was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Wayne's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Thurston-Cuming County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Wayne got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Thurston-Cuming County by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do Thurston-Cuming County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
