The Hampton Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Riverside Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hampton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Hampton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat College View Academy 66-34 at home.
Hampton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Arndt led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Dose, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Riverside can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Elba 83-30 on the road. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Elba is ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dane Schalk was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 21 points. Larry Diessner was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Hampton's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Riverside, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Hampton was taken down by Riverside 56-25 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hampton was down 31-10.
