The South Broward Bulldogs will face off against the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. South Broward is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
South Broward fought the good fight in their overtime game against Dillard on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. South Broward has not had much luck with Dillard recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their defeat, South Broward saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Gabriel Collier, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Nelson Maldonado, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pompano Beach didn't have too much trouble with Coral Springs Charter on the road on Tuesday as they won 50-34. The win was just what Pompano Beach needed coming off of a 59-37 defeat in their prior contest.
South Broward has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Pompano Beach, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
South Broward strolled past Pompano Beach when the teams last played back in November of 2021 by a score of 64-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Broward since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
