Monte Vista (Spring Valley, Calif.)'s 4-game winning streak, with a 42-13 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Ethaniel Estevez touchdown run in the second quarter, the Conquistadors led 21-7 at the half.
Serra expanded its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored three times in the third, including once on a
Jahlil Johnson touchdown run.
Hunter Correll stood out for the San Diego school in the win. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The Monarchs came in giving up 16.0 points per game this season. Monte Vista struggled against the Conquistadors, which came in averaging 28.6 points per game. Serra came in allowing an average of 25.6 points per game this season.
SHS got revenge for last year's 12-7 loss to MV with the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Monte Vista, which notched a 42-20 victory over El Cajon Valley in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for the Conquistadors, which was coming off a 55-7 defeat at the hands of Cathedral Catholic in its previous game.
