The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Basic Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Sierra Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Sierra Vista got the win against Bonanza by a conclusive 11-3. The victory continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their matchups with the Bengals: they've now won nine in a row.

Reagan Foglia made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Foglia was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Penelope Spann was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Makenzie Best was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Basic beat Spring Valley 10-6 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
Melanie Hughes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Natalee Ramos was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Kilar, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.
Basic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Basic pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Sierra Vista, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Sierra Vista might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Basic when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Mountain Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
