Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Pearland's 11th in Last 12 Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Pearland rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Summer Creek Bulldogs a 7-0 shutout. The Oilers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Pearland got a great performance from Grant Shepherd as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Shepherd has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Nicholas Partida was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Pearland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Summer Creek, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-9-1.

Pearland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
