The Bryan Bears lost to the Elkhorn South Storm back in December of 2019, but the Bryan Bears didn't allow the Elkhorn South Storm the same satisfaction on Friday. Bryan secured a 49-45 W over the Storm. Given Bryan's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Storm are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Thomas Alsup was a one-man wrecking crew for Bryan as he scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. LC Doss was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Elkhorn South still got an impressive performance from Lincoln Schwarz, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Mroczek, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Bryan's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Elkhorn South, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 4-10.
Bryan won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Thunderbirds at 7:15 p.m. on January 20th. Averaging 77.92 points so far this season, Bellevue West's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Bears better be ready for a challenge. As for Elkhorn South, they will be playing at home against the Navigators at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln North Star is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.7 points per game this season.
