Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Auburn's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carrollton, Auburn was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Tri-City Tornadoes with a sharp 10-1 victory. Considering the Trojans have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meena Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Piper Taylor and Addison Wheatley did most of the damage at the plate: Piper went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Wheatley went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Patterson, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Auburn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tri-City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Auburn will welcome Pawnee at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Trojans' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Indians have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Tri-City, they will host Pleasant Plains at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
