Stroudsburg is 9-1 against Pleasant Valley since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mountaineers will head out on the road to take on the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Stroudsburg will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
While Stroudsburg's victory against Honesdale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mountaineers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hornets 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mountaineers have posted since April 19, 2025.
Stroudsburg's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Fagan-Huse, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Fagan-Huse has posted over her last ten games. Isabella Thomas was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Pleasant Valley and East Stroudsburg South have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Bears fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 7-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Cavaliers: they've now lost three in a row.
Mia Battaglino was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma DePalma, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Pleasant Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Stroudsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
Pleasant Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Stroudsburg has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Pleasant Valley, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Stroudsburg's sizable advantage in that area, the Bears will need to find a way to close that gap.
Stroudsburg was able to grind out a solid win over Pleasant Valley in their previous meeting back in April, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountaineers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
