Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Circle Thunderbirds, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wellington on Friday. Circle has not had much luck with Wellington recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Circle still got an impressive performance from Conner Chadwell, who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Ahles also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Dusty Bannister, who rushed for 41 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Giefer, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Circle's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Wellington, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Circle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wellington has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Field Kindley at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
