It was a good run, but Gig Harbor unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Punahou Buff n' Blue. While losing is never fun, the Tides can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 77th in Washington, while the Buff n' Blue are ranked second in Hawaii).

Gig Harbor's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Punahou, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gig Harbor will take on Mount Tahoma at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Punahou, they will face off against Mid-Pacific Institute at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
