There's no place like home for the Cypress Lake Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They snuck past Estero with a 54-48 victory on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cypress Lake also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Cypress Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Giordan Easely led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five assists and three steals. Easely is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Obang Ochan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Estero still got an impressive performance from Lee Eckman, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 1 assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Arrington, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Cypress Lake's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12. As for Estero, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12.
Cypress Lake won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Ida Baker has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 5. As for Estero, they will square off against the Manta Rays at TBD on Thursday.
