Downey extended their road winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Madeline Garcia. The Vikings took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 32-0 win over the Westminster Lions with plenty of help from Garcia, who threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes, and also rushed for 62 yards and one score on only eight carries. Her passing game has become a key predictor of Downey's success: the team is 7-1 when her passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Downey didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Delilah Navarro led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself.

Downey's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Westminster, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Downey will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mira Costa at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Vikings 8.6, the Mustangs 14.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Westminster, they will take on University in a tournament on Saturday. The Lions are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
