The Loogootee Lions and the Barr-Reeve Vikings squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Loogootee Lions had to settle for second. They took a hard 40-22 fall against the Vikings. Loogootee's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it seven in a row.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alaina Diamond, who scored six points along with four blocks and two steals.
Leading Barr-Reeve to victory were Willow Thompson and Hannah Bledsoe. Thompson scored 15 points along with two steals, while Bledsoe dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Thompson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ava B Carter was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Loogootee has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Barr-Reeve, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.
Loogootee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Barr-Reeve is on the road again on Friday and plays Springs Valley at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
