The St. John's Prep Johnnies lost against the Upsala Cardinals back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. John's Prep was outmatched by Upsala at home and fell 80-44. St. John's Prep has not had much luck with Upsala recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Upsala's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samuel Laliberte, who scored 22 points along with five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Laliberte has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jack Primus, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
St. John's Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Upsala, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John's Prep will challenge Holdingford at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. St. John's Prep is coming into the match with four straight losses on the road, meaning Holdingford will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. Upsala is on the road again on Monday and plays Braham at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Upsala knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Braham likes a good challenge.
