If the Laurel Highlands Mustangs were riding high off their 63-39 takedown of the Connellsville Falcons last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Laurel Highlands had to suffer through a rough 85-58 loss at the hands of Thomas Jefferson. While losing is never fun, Laurel Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Thomas Jefferson is ranked 66th).
Despite the loss, Laurel Highlands still got an impressive performance from Aiden Black, who scored 27 points. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Luke Martin, who scored 13 points.
Laurel Highlands has fallen quite a ways from their 25-4 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Thomas Jefferson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Laurel Highlands will head out on the road to face off against Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. Thomas Jefferson and Peters Township will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
