On Friday, the Olympia Titans faced the Oak Ridge Pioneers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Olympia took a hard 87-73 fall against Oak Ridge. It was the first time this season that Olympia let down their fans at home.
Olympia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kameren Wright, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Wright hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Vophcy Prophete, who scored 20 points.
Oak Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamier Jones out in front who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. Jones has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Jordan Tillery was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Olympia's defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5. As for Oak Ridge, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.
Olympia will head out on the road to square off against Edgewater at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Edgewater focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday. As for Oak Ridge, they will face off against The Rock National at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rock National knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Oak Ridge likes a good challenge.
