Even though the Lafayette Hornets have not done well against the Hamilton County Trojans recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lafayette took down Hamilton County 58-42. The win was familiar territory for Lafayette who now have five in a row.
Leading Lafayette to victory were Jalen Hill and Amarie Fleming. Hill dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Fleming dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Hill hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Trevor Mares was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Hamilton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette and Branford will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Hamilton County, they will head out on the road to take on Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Union County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
